Ross Barnett

Ross is investigating how passive acoustic monitoring can be used to detect changes in the communities of fish and benthic macrofauna around offshore windfarms in the UK. Ross’s background as an ecologist is mainly focussed on the use of ecoacoustics in woodland. He has previously worked for the RestREco project on the link between soundscapes and woodland ecosystem complexity, and has widespread interests and experience in restoration, entomology and bioacoustics.

He holds a MRes in Ecology and Environmental Biology from the University of Glasgow (2019) and a BSc (Hons) in Animal Biology from the University of Stirling (2018). His MRes thesis utilised acoustic indices as indicators of climate change induced phenological changes in Scottish woodland.
